This playful paper craft lets kids create their very own chomping monster puppet that can open and close its mouth. It’s a fantastic mix of colouring, cutting, folding, and imaginative play—all in one activity.
What you need for this craft:
Paint, paint pens, felt tip pens or pencils
Scissors
Glue or sticky tape
How to Make Your Hungry Monster Puppet
1. Colour in your monster and carefully cut out the monster and straps along the dotted lines. (TIP - it's always easier to colour in before you cut!)
2. Fold the monster in half along the dotted line, with the monster facing inwards.

3. Next, fold along the other two dotted lines, so the monster’s face is now on the outside.
4. Attach the straps (using glue or tape) as shown— between the middle fold and the top and bottom fold this is what lets your monster open and close its mouth!

And just like that… your monster is ready to chomp!
This activity is designed with younger kids in mind. It’s simple enough to follow without frustration, but still has enough steps to feel like a real “make.” The folding mechanism is especially exciting—it turns a flat piece of paper into something interactive and magical!

Kids can bring their hungry monster to life with storytelling, silly voices, and imaginative play. It’s a great way to encourage creativity, fine motor skills, and hours of screen-free entertainment.
